Padel is one of the UK’s fastest-growing racket sports — a fun mix of tennis and squash that’s easy to learn and social to play.
To get started:
Find a local club – Search for padel courts near you using platforms like LTA Padel or Playtomic. Many leisure centres and tennis clubs now have padel facilities.
Book a beginners’ session – Most clubs offer taster sessions or group lessons for newcomers, with all equipment provided.
Grab a racket and friends – You can play doubles almost anywhere there’s a court. Padel rackets are solid (no strings), and balls are similar to tennis balls but with less pressure.
Join a social or league – Once you’re hooked, clubs often run friendly socials, ladders, and leagues to help you improve and meet other players.
No experience needed — just trainers, comfortable sportswear, and a willingness to give it a go!
